Floyd is digging his own grave…

A host in one of the variety show in T.V. asked an overseas Filipino worker what is his motto. The man swiftly said “Six-feet below the ground” It was unheard of and funny who would have think about digging your own grave as your motto in life but different strokes for different folks like they say.
Floyd Mayweather Jr. Started his career as a lanky lightweight fighter but what made him a star was that he doesn’t duck any fighter available to fight him. His fights with Diego Corrales and Jose Luis Castillo was a classic but fast forward and wins after wins Mayweather became cautious about fighting oppositions. He was worried about his perfect record that he is now choosing the easy money and the easy win. It was no coincidence that he fought an older De La Hoya, a smaller and immovable Ricky Hatton or a much smaller light weight fighter in Juan Manuel Marquez. Everything was planned everything was meticulously detailed in whom or where Floyd fights. When Shane Mosley, Antonio Margarito, Paul Williams and Miguel Cotto rule the welterweight division everybody was calling out on Mayweather to fight them but Floyd opt to retire to protect his beloved record he then came back against Marquez. When Pacquiao knocked Miguel Cotto out Floyd was put on the corner and had no choice but to say yes on the biggest fight in the planet with millions of money on the table.
The negotiations on the first part were surprisingly easy but on the later part all those excuses and accusations came out. Who are we kidding Floyd will not fight Manny if he had avoided those Mosleys and Cottos before why not now. Actually before Golden Boy and top rank started negotiations the Mayweather team is already preparing a fight against the brother whom he knock out years ago Matthew Hatton. So basically Pacquiao in any way is not an option for Floyd. Who would pay to see a fight with Floyd and Matthew Hatton? To keep it in the right perspective Floyd should remember that he needs Pacquiao not the other way around as for Manny there are still some broad options waiting for him he may fight Yuri Foreman, Andre Berto or even Paul Williams. With millions in IRS debt and a looming litigation case Floyd is losing money and we are not talking about thousands but tens of millions of dollars. He is digging his own grave or maybe he shares the same motto like the OFW person in T.V. ..Six feet below the ground.

Happy New Year everyone!!!

Golden Boy Promotions hypocrisy

A bruised, battered and a submitted Oscar De La Hoya hug Manny Pacquiao on their supposed 12 round battle that ended in round 9 when Oscar quit on his stool. Manny said to Oscar you are still my idol and it was one of the greatest things to see in boxing two ring gladiators who are hall of famers hugging and praising each other after exchanging punches minutes before the fight ended. But all those pre meditated hoopla that Oscar gave to Manny was like a Judas kiss when days after the fight Oscar is starting to discredit Manny’s enormous victory. He was stated that Manny’s punches didn’t hurt him, Oh really? Even his trainer Nacho Beristain wanted to end the fight as early as round 5. It was undeniable that Oscar and his promotional company Golden Boy Promotions bad blood against Manny started way back when Oscar gave Manny a bag of $250,000 to sign with GBP Manny did sign the contract but after realizing his mistake returned the $250 k and sign with Bob Arum’s Top rank. That decision ended up in litigation and eventually Top rank and GBP agreed to an amicable settlement where Top rank represents Manny but GBP will have some percentage on Manny’s purse.
The number of Golden Boy fighters that Manny destroyed made Richard Schaefer GBP’s CEO hate Manny more after destroying Barrera and Marquez and retiring Ricky Hatton and Oscar De La Hoya. It was reported that after Manny’s destruction against Oscar, Schaefer was saying that Manny is on steroids well he should have known better because his fellow Golden Boy fighter Sugar Shane Mosley admitted in court that he was using steroids but unlike Mosley, Manny was tested clean and have never got an inkling of him using performance enhancing drugs. Oscar on his recent blog was stated saying Now I know why Fernando Vargas, Shane Mosley and Manny Pacquiao’s punches feels so much alike quite contradicting when he said after his Pacquiao fight that Manny’s punches never really hurt him.
Now as the ongoing negotiation between Manny and Floyd takes place it was unusual for a co promoter who sides more on his opponent rather than his own. Like I said the litigation made GBP a co promoter with Top rank so it means on Mayweather’s fight they will be having a percentage on Manny’s purse. GBP is not Mayweather’s promotional company because Floyd has its own promotions they are just the one being asked to negotiate for Floyd this is a conflict of interest. The Blood issue was also contradicting knowing that GBP stand on their grounds when Mosley was subjected to additional blood testing against Zab Judah they were quick to say that they have outmost respect on Nevada’s commission testing but they were the ones who requested additional blood testing to Manny. They were the ones who made this issue big by going to the media and destroying Manny’s integrity. There was no blood request when Floyd fought against their fellow fighters Marquez or against Ricky Hatton or their very own Oscar De La Hoya so why now?
These are just some tiny loop holes against GBP and like a Gestalt psychology those holes could be made as a one big hole which meant a downfall on GBP. If they want this fight to happen it could have been signed and sealed long before Christmas but maybe they are just protecting their prize ward which isn’t theirs anyways with aging fighters left in Shane Mosley and Bernard Hopkins their isn’t much to do. There is no one to blame but their hypocrisy.

My 2010 Sports Wishlist

2009 has been such a memorable year for us. Boxing was alive again but with some minor bumps along the road. Basketball has shifted its crown in the Western division when the LA Lakers won the NBA championship. Mix martial arts have up the notch with it’s no holds barred matchup and now as the year has come to an end we all hope 2010 would be a much better year not only for contact sports but for the entirety of sports. Here are some of my wish lists for 2010:

10. The return of Brock - The current UFC heavyweight champion who had to pull out of his scheduled fight against Shane Carwin because of an intestinal disorder. Brock had to undergo surgery and his return had to be put on hold. He is on his way to recovery and will resume training next year. We all want the best from Brock and what better way to see him defend his title and back to his old self crushing his opponents at will.

9. End of Tiger Woods dilemma - He who doesn’t sin cast the first stone I can’t blame girls go gaga over Tiger Woods. The ongoing controversy made Tiger decide to have an indefinite leave in golf which is not a good move after all. It’s the same dilemma Kobe Bryant, Michael Jordan and even Manny Pacquiao have been through but what makes them different than Tiger is that after all the distractions and all the legal threat they still keep on playing in the end all those things died down and their legacy intact. We all hope to see Tiger Woods back early next year.

8. One more year for Anderson Silva in MMA- the 35 year old Brazilian fighter is contemplating retirement next year. I can’t blame him with no real competition and lackluster fights recently. Anderson needs something or someone to inspire him. He still has 6 contractual fights with UFC and with one coming against fellow Brazilian fighter Vitor Belfort but looks like one leg has already stepping on the way out talking about a fight against former boxing great Roy Jones Jr. in a boxing match. Anderson Silva still has it in him we all hope he stays fighting in the MMA for another year before thinking about retirement or Roy Jones Jr.

7. Donaire-Darchinyan rematch- After the two fought each other in 2007 Donaire won Darchinyan’s IBO-IBF belt in a stunning fashion that was voted as knockout of the year. After the match both fighters went on a contrasting career Darchinyan move up and went on to win multi-titled belts and now campaigning back to super flyweight when a move to bantamweight wasn’t so successful when Joseph Agbeko got the unanimous decision win last July 11. Donaire on the other hand was inactive most of the time fighting only once in 2008. Fighting with the same division with Darchinyan it is inevitable that they would face each other eventually. Now talks have been resurfacing about a mega fight between the two. Nonito has to face Gerson Guerrero next year in a Feb. 13 clash if Donaire is successful in defending his WBA interim belt then we might see Donaire-Darchinyan match around June or July. We hope so.

6. Lebron James in the Slamdunk contest - He was given an encore non-contested dunk in the All stars last year with his intention in joining the Slam dunk competition in 2010. But to whatever reason James now have a 50-50 chance in joining the competition. The current MVP in the NBA James doesn’t need to prove anything to the public but like what Michael Jordan, Kobe Bryant and Julius Erving had done; it gave them a stamp of greatness and an inch higher in the competition as an NBA player. Actually it would have been better if James never mentioned in joining the Slamdunk contest but when he said he will be joining we all expect him to be a man of his words if you are named as one of the greatest human highlight player in the planet then that is all expected.

5. Pacquiao’s legal battle with GBP and the Mayweathers- There is to a point that you really have to suck it all up and shut up. When does evidence made to just mere instinct? Well they got what they deserved. And I hope this would be a lesson learned not only for boxing but to all sports. We need basis, we need good evidence let’s not take away the victory and achievements on any athlete in order words don’t open your mouth if you don’t have sufficient evidence to back your claim. Comprende?

4. Boston and Lakers rivalry- The Celtics humiliated the Lakers on their last Finals outing that have been an ongoing war since their dynasty days. The Lakers wants to get a piece of Boston and vice versa. The Cavaliers has every reason to spoil the party and for sure San Antonio and co will also try to give the Lakers some stiff competition. But at the end of it all we all want to see the Celtics and the Lakers clashing in for the finals again and i hope 2010 is a magical year for us.

3. Edwin Valero’s chance- I ranked him all the way up here because Edwin has been such a devastating puncher all throughout his career with a perfect KO record. We don’t want to see such a good fighter going down because no one wants to fight him. He is that good those fighters feared him and he is that too risky that no known fighter wants to fight him. Humberto Soto would be a good fight for Valero this 2010 and it doesn’t need the fight to happen in US soil after failing to secure his Visa it could happen in Mexico or any part of the globe. Valero needs competition and I believe this would be a breakout year for him.

2. Another MVP award for Mr. Bryant – He doesn’t have to score big or guard superstars on opposing teams but Kobe wants the competition the Lakers are becoming the complete team reaching to its full potential with their height and versatility. Lebron has a legitimate claim to be Bryant’s top competition but being MVP is not being scored by statistics it’s all about consistency and so far between James and Bryant, Kobe is more consistent. It’s still too early to tell but I believed weather Kobe, James or Dwayne Wade they all deserved it.

1. A March 13 date between Manny Pacquiao and Floyd Mayweather Jr. - The contract has not been signed yet and the fight looks like its looming to be left in the cold with all the controversy and demands but whatever the outcome is I hope the fight will happen. It’s the biggest fight in our era and it would be a waste to see it all in the drain. We don’t want a Pacquiao-Malignaggi fight or a Mayweather-Matthew Hatton fight we want Pacquiao and Mayweather by hook or by crook.

One more chance please...

When Pushed comes to Shove Manny Pacquiao is fighting back

It was in May 31, 2008 where two of the best welterweights where scheduled to trade punches in the ring. Shane Mosley who admitted in the court taking steroids was asked by Zab Judah’s camp to take an independent blood testing beyond the Nevada Athletic commission’s standard drug test procedures but Shane’s promotional company Golden Boy Promotions headed by CEO Richard Schaefer insisted on the Nevada commission’s testing procedure that it was sufficient enough to determine any steroids or performance enhancing drugs found on any fighters system. But it wasn’t what Schaefer said during their on-going negotiation on the biggest fight in our era the Pacquiao-Mayweather bout. He, the Mayweathers and the GBP asked Manny to undergo Olympic style testing which requires random blood and urine testing anytime of the day. Manny did agree but requested only three blood testing because taking blood on the day or a day before the fight weakens him like what Freddie Roach said “it’s like having sex before the big fight”… call it superstition; a table spoon or a bag of blood doesn’t affect anyone physically but mentally it does. It already happened to Manny when he fought Erik Morales on their first match so basically it makes sense and what’s the difference between taking a blood a day before the fight or minutes after it? It’s not like any other liquid or substance that you can just flush it on the drain we are talking about drugs and PEDs which normally gets into your system and stays a little longer. It was only a falsely accusation on which no one can back it up with evidence the fact that Manny passed all the necessary test with a clean slate means it was all hardwork and determination that made him pound per pound best. To make matters worst it all started by a drug pusher who was convicted for drug trafficking in 1993 and served a five year term in jail. Mayweather Sr. Started everything when his fighter Ricky Hatton was knocked out by Manny in just two rounds that made him more envious on Pacquiao’s and Roach’s achievements. Last Christmas day Manny fought back and said
“I have instructed my promoter, Bob Arum, head of Top Rank Inc., to help me out in the filing of the case as soon as possible because I have had people coming over to me now asking if I really take performance-enhancing drugs and [if] I have cheated my way into becoming the No. 1 boxer in the world, I maintain and assure everyone that I have not used any form or kind of steroids and that my way to the top is a result of hard work, hard work, hard work and a lot of blood spilled from my past battles in the ring, not outside of it. I have no idea what steroids look like, and my fear in God has kept me safe and victorious through all these years. In a direct challenge to Mayweather, Pacquiao said “Now, I say to Floyd Mayweather Jr., don’t be a coward and face me in the ring, mano-a-mano and shut your big, pretty mouth, so we can show the world who is the true king of the ring”. As far as I can remember Floyd Jr. Openly said Manny haven’t been vocal about fighting him now the naturally mild mannered Manny is issuing Mayweather for a fight and even calling him a coward. And lastly Pacquiao said “Pretty Boy Floyd, face me instead on March 13 in Las Vegas and not in some talk show forum or in press releases written for you by people who don’t even know me. Face me in a fight where I get to punch back. You and your cohorts have accused me of using performance-enhancing drugs. Now, I say, the burden of proof should now come from you, not me,”.
Golden Boy Promotions on their press release emphasize about levelling the playing field but did Mayweather Jr. came to the Marquez fight on the stipulated catch weight? Nope instead he went two pounds heavier and the naturally bigger Floyd handily gave the lightweight Marquez a beating. If GBP back in 2008 said they have outmost trust on the Nevada Commission when their boy Mosley was asked to do necessary blood testing why is it they are now asking for an Olympic-type testing? Pacquiao did not disagree upon the blood test but he only wanted to have three blood testing which will be right on their first press conference then in February and then after the fight I think that’s rightfully fair for all the doubting Thomases out there. They have been making those mind boggling demands since the beginning of the negotiations and they think all those non-sense talk have no retribution but now they taste the fruits of Karma. They have been pushing Manny right from the beginning but when push comes to shove Manny is now fighting back. As Manny’s statement concluded…
“These people think they are doing the sport a great service. They are not To Floyd, despite all these accusations, may your Christmas be merry and I will see you in court, soon, too.”

Pacquiao-Mayweather mega fight in jeopardy

The proposed mega bout between Manny Pacquiao and Floyd Mayweather Jr. is now in jeopardy I have been mentioning time and time again about team Mayweather’s demands but this time they are pushing for a random Olympic style drug testing in which Pacquiao will have to submit a series of blood and urine test prior to the fight which means that Pacquiao is susceptible to 8-5 random blood test in which he will comply in between training and a day or hours before the fight. Freddie Roach differ the kind of random testing “The thing is, I talked to the drug testing people today and I said,’Can you guarantee me that Manny won’t have to give blood the day before the fight?’ They said no. I said,’Then we can’t do the test.’” He added later,”We go by the commission rules, the sanctioning body rules. Mayweather doesn’t make the rules, we don’t work for Mayweather. He needs us, we don’t need him.”
It all started with Mayweather Sr. accusing Manny of performance enhancing drug as he was moving up in weight destroying Hatton, Dela Hoya and Cotto with ease. Then there was Kermit Cintron and Paulie Malignaggi taking a ride in the issue questioning Pacquiao’s ability to take a bigger punch from the big boys in the light welterweight and welterweight division. Even before Pacquiao was campaigning at the 130lb. division he always came to fight night at 144lbs,Manny even came 149 lbs. in the Dela Hoya fight a pound higher than Oscar what I’m saying is Manny is a natural welterweight. Manny is not moving up in weight but rather coming down in weight squeezing every ounce of his body to the 130lb. limit, 140 and 147 respectively. The fight is clearly going to happen in Las Vegas and with that fights happened in Vegas are handled by the Nevada State Athletic Commission under by executive director Keith Kizer. Manny has passed the entire test before and after fights and was always clean.
Pacquiao’s conditioning expert Alex Ariza said “there is nothing that they are going to find 24 hours before the fight that they cannot find five minutes after the fight. We are not refusing to give blood; we are not willing to give it that close to the fight.” There is some mental stress especially with Manny who have some issues with needles the term “stress” is short for distress, a word evolved from Latin that means “to draw or pull apart.” And going to the fight it could give Mayweather some advantage. If he wants a fair deal then he wouldn’t ask a leeway for the 147 pounds and come out with a weight advantage like the Marquez fight. Why not drug testing also for trainers? And let’s see who will come out positive. I couldn’t understand why Golden Boy promotions and team Mayweather keep on making issues. Consensus will be that Manny and Floyd will take both tests during their first conference then after the fight because if Manny is really taking steroids it will clearly reflect in any other way. As a final message to Floyd Mayweather and Golden Boy promotions a word from Top rank’s Bob Arum…
“they can go to hell as far as I’m concerned including (Richard) Schaefer although I don’t think it’s his idea, I think its Floyd’s idea and we are going to go on and do something else. This is an absolute outrage.”

Manny Pacquiao’s three losses

“Immortality is a long shot, I admit. But somebody has to be first.” –Bill Cosby… Manny Pacquiao’s achievement was no walk in the park his 7 weight titles in different divisions are no gimme fight either he walk through a bed of nails put his way up through the steepest mountain and came back victorious. So what made Manny what he is today? It’s not about his 50 wins or his 38 knockouts it’s about his 3 losses that made him the best. It’s because of those setbacks that Manny continue to develop his craft and became a complete boxer with power in both hands. Let’s try to look at each three losses and see who and where are the fighters now.

Rustico Torrecampo (14-8-5) – Manny was riding an 11-0 record and was one of the feared fighters in the light flyweight division in the Philippines. His blonde colored hair and his all out war style made him a crowd favorite in the defunct boxing show called “Blow by blow” Manny was crushing Torrecampo from round 1 till round 3 until he was hit a wayward shot that knock Manny down from the canvass. Manny got careless and that loss made him wiser and won 15 straight including his first championship belt at flyweight division against Chatchai Sasakul. Rustico Torrecampo’s career went downward after the Pacquiao bout winning only twice on his last seven fights and ended his career on a sour note with a TKO loss against Archie Villamor. He was last seen selling fishballs and noodles in the street and became a fugitive after killing a person after a heated argument.

Medgoen Singsurat (63-6-0) – The name who always been mentioned as the fighter who knock Pacquiao out in almost every Pacquiao fight. It was a vicious body shot that drop Manny on his second defense of his WBC flyweight belt but even before the fight started Manny already lost his belt through the scales. He had a hard time fitting his body to the 112 pound limit and coming to the fight dehydrated and weak one body shot can already be hurting Manny. After losing his belt Manny move up in weight jumping 10 pounds heavier in the super bantamweight division. Many considered that fight as a barometer in finding Pacquiao’s weakness, and so Manny worked out his body and strengthening his condition thus Pacquiao’s fascinating training regime created. Singsurat defended his title once and got knock out by a Filipino challenger Malcolm Tuñacao. He fought mostly on his homeland feeding his record with patsies raking wins after wins. After Pacquiao he had only two memorable fights and both fights ended with a TKO loss against Jorge Arce (1st round) and Miki Yasuda (2nd round). Singsurat is now campaigning in the bantamweight division.

Erik Morales (48-6-0)- It was Manny’s first fight in the Super feather weight division he had just humiliated Morales’s former rival Marco Antonio Barrera in San Antonio Texas and Eric gave Pacquiao a boxing lesson neutralizing his deadly left hand while out boxing Manny onward to a 12 round unanimous decision win. It was that fight that Freddie Roach changed Manny and made him into a two fisted demon with his new arsenal the right hand. “El terrible” is already a legend and a future hall of famer he tried to make a comeback fight at the lightweight division trying to get David Diaz’s WBC belt but lost by unanimous decision it was very clear that Morales skills are slowly deteriorating but unlike Barrera, Morales knows how to call it a day when he announced his retirement after the Diaz fight. There are talks about Morales trying to get back to boxing but so far it looks like he is enjoying his retirement.

It’s not how you win but on how you bounce back after losing that made Manny what he is now. Losing only made Manny bounce back in ten folds.

The Wizards need Agent Zero to be back

Winning only 7 games out of the 22 games they played the Washington Wizards for consecutive years are on the bottom three of the Eastern division conference and after the Phoenix Suns rout the Wizards at home with little resistance (121-95) the franchise are in for a tough and long season. They seem to be a pretty good basketball team on paper. They have three all-stars Caron Butler, Antawn Jamison and Gilbert Arenas they have good shooters in Deshawn Stevenson, Mike James, Mike Miller and Nick Young they are tall and athletic with Andray Blatche, Javale McGee and Brendan Haywood. They have the entire recipe in making a good team but failed to level up to their potential. The Wizards who was on the no. 5 draft opted to trade their rights for Randy Foye and Mike Miller adding veterans who could shoot and pass the basket. But still there seems to be lacking on the Wizards mojo lately.
When Agent Zero played with the Wizards with passion and confidence he was hard to stop averaging almost a double-double a game in points and assists. He was emotional and his cockiness was contagious leading his team all the way to the playoffs. He scored a franchise-record 60 points against the Lakers and giving the Cleveland Cavaliers a tough fight in the playoffs. In short the $16,192,080 per year salary of Arenas was all worth it down to the last penny. But coming into the season Gilbert decided to let Agent Zero retire and become a more passive and more subtle as a player he refused to talk to the media and his comments were short and brief. Arenas decided to be a team player and refused to wear his alter ego. After two years of absence Gilbert is slowly trying to become the assassin he was known for. The Agent Zero who has hurt fans with his dagger shots with seconds remaining in the game, his long shots way above the three point line, his Kamikaze moves around the paint and most of all the emotions which we came to love.
Agent Zero needs to be back because the Wizards are slowly digging its own hole. Enough of being a team player because from what I saw it’s really not working out. Agent Zero should be back and should start shooting fast and like what they always say in movies… “No more Mr. Nice guy”…

Edwin Valero’s real battle

The unfortunate events started to pile up having been arrested for DUI after the Pacquiao-Hatton fight Edwin Valero’s US visa renewal was also denied. It was brick after brick and failure after failure Edwin after feeding the boxing crowd’s inquisitiveness with his unbeaten record and a perfect Knockout ratio all died down when the US embassy KOed his application. There isn’t much competition in terms of opposition for Valero but the fight outside the realms of the four poster ring is much tougher for the 28 year old southpaw fighter. His US Visa could have been a golden ticket for insurmountable fights with Top rank promotions. A fight with Humberto Soto could have been a great matchup and it could be part of the undercard of the Mayweather-Pacquiao March 13 fight a perfect way to introduced the boxing world the power of “El Dinamita”. His first US fight was with veteran Antonio Pituala and made a short workout in just two rounds but his US debut became stagnant and all of a sudden the hype died down.
This Dec.19 Valero will take on former Pacquiao opponent the sturdy Mexican Hector Velasquez who last fought Pacquiao in 2005 and lost via TKO for the vacant WBC international super featherweight title. He could give Valero some competition if he was on his prime but the 34 year old Velasquez who fought 67 professional fights in his career winning 51 wins with 35 KOs with 13 loss and 2 draws was no where spectacular on his 3 recent fights having lost to Joksan Hernandez and Elio Rojas and salvage a split decision against Hector Javier Marquez. Velasquez who mainly campaign in the super featherweight division will be fighting Valero as a lightweight and not any other lightweight he will be fighting with a two fisted monster. Once again Valero is fighting with little competition and I highly doubt if Velasquez could go way beyond 5 rounds. At 28 years old Valero has still years left before hanging up his gloves he will be the most feared fighter in the lighter weights but at the end of it all Edwin knows the real battle begins in four letter word called L-I-F-E…

Floyd should sign the damn paper

Last May 2009 Manny Pacquiao challenged Ricky Hatton’s IBO and ring magazine light welterweight title in an unlikely stunning fashion. It was competitive in paper but the result was a wipe out knocking the Hitman in round two with his vaunted left. It was on that same week that Mayweather went back to boxing after being retired for a year. He could have waited a couple of days to challenge Manny for his pound per pound status but instead announced a fight against Juan Manuel Marquez with just hours before the Pacquiao-Hatton fight. Floyd dominated the smaller Marquez and Manny won a TKO against welterweight champ Miguel Cotto. Now the road is free from obstruction and the two best boxers in our lifetime will come face to face to settle the score. The date has been set but Floyd has been adding every stumbling block he can think of. He doesn’t want to fight in Dallas wherein he and Manny are guaranteed a whooping $25 million and can accommodate up to 100,000 seats. He wants a 10 ounce gloves and the fight should feature his name first (Mayweather-Pacquiao). His team wants an Olympic type of testing before the fight to satisfy their allegations against Steroids used. If that’s the case why not put everyone on the team for an Olympic type of testing and drug used for sure Roger Mayweather and Sr. will beg to disagree. The recent issues now is that Mayweather wants a leeway on the 147 welterweight limit it’s like giving him consent to come to the fight overweight like what he did to Marquez. He can make all those demands but certainly not the weight. Limits are set to make the battlefield equal and rightfully the fight should be done at 147 because Floyd is fighting for Manny’s WBO welterweight belt. The next issue would be that Floyd is contemplating in fighting for a tune-up match before the Pacquiao fight and fights Matthew Hatton in England. Who would pay to see Mayweather fights the brother of the former light welterweight champion Ricky whom he knockout years ago? They say if you really want it there are lots of ways to do it but if you don’t there are lots of excuses to make. There is no other significant fight than Pacquiao and this is his time to prove to everybody that he can walk the walk. Pacquiao knows this is the fight everybody wants to see and a busted ear drum and some bruises didn’t even give Manny second thoughts in signing the fight. The line is drawn and the date has been set all Floyd has to do is sign the contract and the historic fight will happen. He was evading Manny right from the moment he returned lacing the gloves maybe Floyd sees the fight as a no win situation when a bigger man dominate a smaller man but we all know Manny is a legit welterweight now or maybe Floyd knows that he has found the perfect dancing partner the fighter who could outwork his speed and power, the fighter who could break his shoulder roll and most of all the fighter who in any other way could score a win against him. Let’s cut the BS and let everyone see a Mayweather-Pacquiao fight next year sign the damn paper.

Manny Pacquiao’s blue print against Mayweather

Floyd Mayweather Jr. is a complete fighter and has very little flaws and weaknesses on his defense it’s like finding that one tiny hole in a heavily built brick. He can frustrate you and can outbox you and when you get careless he could knock you out. Floyd doesn’t have the power to knock his opponents out with just one punch but he uses his adversaries speed and power to get a well timed punch in an awkward angle a punch which you rarely see.
So how do you fight a caliber fighter like Mayweather who has shown ring generalship and minimal flaws? No matter how good or how great he is there is always that tiny hole that anyone can take advantage of and although Mayweather has kept his record intact the blueprint to defeat him has been minimally done in pieces now it’s only up to Manny Pacquiao to gather all that bits and pieces to make the perfect plan to defeat one of the pound per pound greats.
The Luis Castillo fight- In their initial bout, Castillo was successful cutting off Mayweather in the ring and using his strength and matching Floyd’s speed. Many thought Castillo has done enough to get him a win against Mayweather but the outcome came out controversial when the judges awarded Floyd the unanimous win. Floyd was lucky eventhough he started relatively slow in the bout. Manny Pacquiao should test Floyd’s defense in the opening round because he is a thinking fighter he always start slow because during the later rounds he will try to adjust to his opponent’s style. Well Manny should shower Floyd with punches first and don’t let him recover. This is boxing whoever gets intimidated first comes out the loser.
Zab Judah- Early in the rounds Zab was imposing his power and speed against Mayweather and although Floyd was calm it was clearly Zab’s momentum in the early round before Mayweather took over. Like Castillo’s fight Mayweather is vulnerable in the early round and if you notice he has problems with fighting southpaw fighters.
Oscar De La Hoya- Oscar was successful in setting his jab throughout the fight there are times he would step Floyd’s foot to make him outbalance and set him up with combinations if only Oscar still has the popped on his hands he would have troubled Floyd in the fight. But Manny is totally different his lead left can already give much damage and setting up combinations in weird angles can also bewilder Floyd. But the difference would be going to Pacquiao’s fight Floyd is the much bigger fighter.
Paul Spadafora- Paul is unheralded but unbeaten in 43 fights a southpaw who fights in the Welterweight division he once sparred with Floyd not too long ago. Floyd was still retired and has been sparring for conditioning. It was very evident that he was beaten and dominated throughout the session. Paul who hails from Pennsylvannia pummeled Floyd who was still huffing and puffing. The significance about this is that Paul is not a power puncher who only had 17 KO’s out of his 43 wins. Floyd Mayweather is hittable and no matter how good he is in defense sooner or later a punch will eventually hit. The question would be how will Floyd take Manny’s power?

A perfect plan or a blue print has already been made now it’s all up to Manny for the execution.

Here’s Floyd and Paul Spadafora’s sparring session thanks to the uploader:
