Deron Williams played together with an all NBA selection with Kobe Bryant and Lebron James in the Olympics, he was also named All-NBA second team in 2008 and NBA All-rookie first team in his rookie year in 2006 the new face of the Utah Jazz franchise but for the past 3 years he never made it to the All-Stars. In their draft there are only two who emerge roses among the talented thorns one is Deron and the other who was drafted after him the number four draft pick Chris Paul. Unlike Deron, Paul played three All-star selections from 2008 to 2010 he also went on to grab the rookie of the year award and has played together with Williams on the Olympic team. They are the perfect parody for the saying “the first would be the last and the last would be the first”… unfortunately Deron got the bottom end of the stick.
Following the John Stockton and Karl Malone era, Deron didn’t waste time in replacing the vacuum left by Stockton. He is a smart player who has a quick jump step and passes the ball very well a good perimeter shooter and deceivingly high leaper in fast breaks. Deron have a double-double average in points and assists. It was puzzling to know the times he was ignored in the All-stars after leading his team to consecutive playoffs even having 20-assists on two occasions in the 07-08 season.
The NBA All-star selections normally have three point guards in their line-up 2007 have Allen Iverson, Steve Nash and Tony Parker. The 2008 selection bannered Iverson, Steve Nash and Chris Paul, 2009 have Chris Paul, Tony Parker and Chauncy Billups. Deron for his part will struggle to find his spot in those years even in 2009 when Parker had a good year and Billups had a magical turnaround with the Nuggets.
But i do believe Deron in every word is an exception.
Dallas is a special place for Deron having played basketball in a city in Denton County, Texas called the Colony wherein he lead his high school team to a 32-2 record and what a perfect time to see Deron’s first All-star appearance on a town who first notice his basketball talent. Those 20 assists and double-double performance will always be notice it’s like applying a job with a very impressive resume that you meticulously built in through experienced and your employer will have no other choice but to say yes. Deron rightfully in any other way deserve to be an All-star and he has the right to be rubbing elbows against Chris Paul and Steve Nash as the West point guards…It took him three years to be on this spot and it was all worth it because he earned every inch to be called an All-star.

He was born on the same year a legend was drafted on the NBA the legend revolutionized basketball and was heralded as the greatest player ever… Michael Jordan. On that same year Magic Johnson led the Lakers into the NBA finals as they squared off again with the Celtics winning the championship series in six games. The stars were all aligned on that night and Lebron James was born on the same year two of the greatest legends emerged. He was just destined for greatness, and 25 years later King James has found his throne.
The athleticism of a young Michael Jordan and the wizardry of Magic Johnson combine into a triple double threat establishing 29.9 points per game with 7.8 assists and 7.2 rebounds the six-foot-eight Lebron can play different positions and established himself as one of the greatest player of today. Before going Pro, Lebron was hype up since he was in highschool having a lot of media attention from ESPN and other sports media. NBA players including Michael Jordan go all the way to a small town in Akron Ohio to watch James play. It was the same excitement that happened 4 to 5 decades ago to a young man named Lew Alcindor taking his team to a 79-2 overall record. Alcindor eventually got converted and is known up to this day as Kareem Abdul-Jabbar. I came to understand more about Lebron on his documentary movie “More than a game”. He made basketball as his sanctuary and look up to his best friends as his family. The moment he learns to stand up and walk on his own Lebron is already holding a ball and dunking a make shift rim while he was still two years old. His mother who became pregnant at a young age of 16 had to work hard to survive and that made James competitive nature having to survive and having to go through difficulty of life at a young age.
I remember when I was still young and had fear of dogs. Our neighbor would always say he won’t bite but the moment I touch the dog I ended up in the hospital. Lebron is destined for greatness and unknowingly he is headed to become one of the most exciting players of our generation. You can question the way he handled losing opting not to shake hands with Dwight Howard on their eastern conference finals or you can question his fickle mindedness when he says he will compete for the slamdunk competition next year but you can never question greatness… It’s just like saying dogs don’t bite.

I bumped into a very well filmed documentary about the great Muhammad Ali. It featured fighters who faced Ali and their experienced against the greatest fighter of all time. Even from the time he fought Henry Cooper wherein he was knocked down in the 4th round but escaped a TKO win, Ali would brag that he is the greatest of all time even calling himself a God. There would be verbal wars and sometimes it goes way beyond the usual by calling his opponent Gorilla or Uncle Tom. The documentary featured Joe Frazier, Ken Norton, Leon Spinks, Larry Holmes and George Foreman each and everyone has a story to tell on their encounters with Ali.
“Float like a butterfly, sting like a bee… if you are an Ali fan then this is a must see documentary of course I would love to share this with you… download links available below. Enjoy!

These questions has been going around my mind for quite some time if someone is attempting a murder but was spoiled right before going through the whole process of killing someone would he be convicted as a frustrated murderer? Or if someone wants to steal something but was intercepted right before he steps through the yard of his would-be victim would he be convicted as a burglar? The answer would probably a yes or a no but it all depends on one solely justification the word evidence…
Boxing has been through a lot of controversies and as a contact sport putting something to your body like PEDS or steroids and illegal hand wraps to gain advantage could really be damaging it could permanently disabled your opponent or even death. I remember the documentary “Assault in the ring” which featured the ill-fated bout between Billy Collins Jr. and Luis Resto and can be downloaded at this link. Luis Resto connived with Panama Lewis and almost killed Billy Collins Jr. as they place plaster of Paris on Resto’s hands it was like adding a block of cement around his hands and one punch can be really deadly. The story ended with Resto unemployed, Billy Collins Jr. died on a freak car accident then Panama Lewis continues to spread his malice and mischief in boxing till now.
Antonio Margarito who has been banned for a year after placing illegal handwrap against his fight with Shane Mosley will be applying a license in Texas to fight on Manny Pacquiao and Joshua Clottey’s undercard. Yes he has a year to think about his wrong doings but what seems wrong about this picture was that what if Naseem Richardson, Shane’s coach never found Margarito’s illegally wrap hands? What will happen to Shane? Would he also take a knee like Cotto? And at age 38 will his body can still carry that punishment? We never know how long Margarito was using those loaded hands but it’s certainly not the first time he has been using those plasters. It’s guys like Margarito that stained boxing and he should be banned for life for using those. I know I am a bit harsh towards Margarito but there are also implications for cheating. He could have known the consequences or what if he was on the other shoe? A single punch with or without plaster of Paris can already damage a number of brain cells. He is not concern about winning he is more concern about hurting his opponents more and goons like that should not be allowed to lace a boxing gloves.
There was evidence, and he was convicted but he is treated like he was innocent. Once again boxing had another blow

“You have brains in your head. You have feet in your shoes. You can steer yourself in any direction you choose. You’re on your own. And you know what you know. You are the guy who’ll decide where to go.” A quote from Dr. Seuss…
Brian Viloria was the product of expectations since he started lacing his gloves. A decorated amateur and a former Olympian all eyes were on Brian from his first professional fight up to his stunning first round knockout win to former champion Eric Ortiz. He was widely embraced by his fighting style and was called the Hawaiian punch. After losing to Omar Romero and Edgar Sosa the hype all died down and since then Viloria has won five straight wins with no extra weight on his back and for the first time he was free and was fighting for himself. He doesn’t care if he fights on a make shift tent or in an undercard fight supporting unknown fighters main event a far cry from a former world champion who fought in front of thousands of supporters. He really doesn’t care as long as he is winning and brought him back to championship form. Brian captured his second world title when he knocked Ulises Solis out on their IBF light flyweight fight right in front of thousands of cheering Filipinos in Araneta Coliseum. Ironically he lost his crown in front of the same crowd who embraced him as their own. Brian was leading almost all scorecards when he was stop by the Colombian slugger Carlos Tamara in the 12 and final round. He could have box and move all night long but instead fought Tamara’s game and slug it out all the way till there was no pop on his punches. The crowd chanted “Viloria, Viloria” and Brian right there and then abandoned his game plan and try to slug it out with Tamara. Once again Brian was back to his familiar spot when he won his first belt. Everyone expected him to knock his opponent, everyone wanted him to give them a good fight and because he wanted to make everyone happy he was fighting with an added pressure. Brian collapse on his dressing room and have to be taken to a hospital and thankfully all results turned out negative and on his way to recovery. If referee Bruce Mctavish didn’t stop the fight who knows it could have been the last time we saw Viloria lace his gloves. He was clearly exhausted and his eyes were already dreamy a second late would be dreadful.
Brian is back to square one back to his old self and out to the realms of expectations. He still has years ahead of him and he could also contemplate in retiring. Boxing fans have seen Brian from up all the way down and brought himself back. He doesn’t have to fight with a chip on his shoulders he has his own head and his own shoes and he knows where he wants to go you have made us proud and now it’s time to move on and learn to love yourself before anything else.

Imagine winning a lottery and at the tip of your emotion someone announce that the draw was a mistake and needs to be investigated and then you realized it’s not only you but a number of people got the same lotto number and then the hype died down.
I had the same feeling when the Pacquiao-Mayweather fight is on negotiation. It was surreal to see two pound per pound all time great fighters slugging it out not only for money but recognition as the best of the best in boxing. The first part of the negotiations started relatively easy with issues such as glove size, place and weight surprisingly agreed by both parties but when it was time to sign the contract Mayweather unknowingly put the random blood testing issue and everything went downhill and the fight we always dreamed of seeing turned out to be just a product of our imagination. Who are we kidding when Floyd is a known ducker in boxing history if he was really sincere about blood testing that would have been his agenda long before negotiations started ironically Floyd is dropping the mega fight because of allegations of PEDS and Steroids and is now groomed to fight Shane Mosley who admitted using steroids and EPO on his fight with Oscar De La Hoya. A fight with Shane Mosley would be great matchup in terms of speed and power and it is no secret that Floyd has been evading Shane for years in fact he was evading every fighter that is a threat to his immaculate record. Antonio Margarito, Miguel Cotto, Shane Mosley, Joshua Clottey, Manny Pacquiao and even Kermit Cintron, Floyd has found a way to duck each and every one of them. But when Manny choose to fight Joshua Clottey, Floyd was push around the corner and have no other choice but to fight Mosley. The people won’t allow such mismatches against Matthew Hatton, smaller guys like Paulie Malignaggi and Nate Campbell pass through. From what I see it’s either fight Mosley or Paul Williams and among the two the 39 year old Mosley is most likely to be Floyd’s dancing partner.
Both fighters are promoted by GBP and so negotiations would be relatively easy but I don’t want to put my hopes up high unless both parties signed the dotted line in the contract. Questions are starting to surface about their May 1 fight. Will Mayweather demand the same blood testing against Mosley? And if Floyd is really keen on fighting Mosley why is it still on negotiation? It only took Bob Arum to make the Pacquiao-Clottey fight in just fifteen minutes with both fighters fighting on the same promotion. The fans are put on the same situation again the hype is starting to snowball but for me I am now careful this time. We could only speculate if Floyd will fight Shane or will he go to the other direction and call upon Malignaggi or Matthew Hatton. Let’s cross the bridge when we get there but the road seems murky and dark. If both Mayweather and Mosley sign the contract then that’s the time I and millions of boxing fans are winning.

“I’m not going to say Pacquiao is doing anything, but he is a little questionable, just a little bit. Me? Test me. Please. I want you to test me,” that was Mosley’s statement in boxingtalk referring to the whole Pacquiao-Mayweather fall out.
Shane Mosley who was saying that he was clean and always been clean was like saying he never lied ever in his life not even one stupid person believes in him after admitting in court that he took “the cream and the clear” a designer steroids during his 2003 bout with Oscar De La Hoya. This designer steroid is a testosterone-based ointment that is used in conjunction with anabolic steroids such as tetahydrogestrinone in short called THG which is used to cover doping. In short this can be taken without getting caught by traditional drug tests. Mosley claims that he wasn’t aware that he was taking steroids and sued Victor Conte the founder and president of Bay Area Laboratory Co-operative for libel even though his former trainer Derryl Hudson supported Conte’s allegation against Mosley. Hudson said that Mosley was aware about the drug because he talked about it during and after visit to BALCO.
Andre Berto had to pull out on their Jan.23 fight with Mosley because of the Haiti disaster and Shane is rumored that he would fight Floyd Mayweather Jr. in May 1. Now he joins a number of minions who puts a cloud of doubt against Manny but what does his statement says? Nothing, because even though he proclaims that he is cleanest fighter in the planet nothing will ever take back his admission of taking steroids who would trust someone who is an admitted cheater? The hypocrisy of Mayweather and GBP is clearly seen in this match-up after Floyd refusing to fight Manny because of allegations and now he will fight a known steroid user.
Mosley is confident about random blood and urine testing because he went through those tests without being detected and let us not forget that USADA never tested anyone in HGH or EPO through blood test with the growing number of undetected performance enhancing drugs. When he said that he didn’t know that it was steroids and would you agree if someone puts an unknown substance to your body without knowing what it is?
To be blunt and simple if a known drug dealer like Floyd Sr. and a known ducker like his son Jr. and an admitted drug user in Shane Mosley questions someone’s credibility what would you do? Simple move on as if nothing happens because frankly you don’t want to go down to their level.

The L.A. Clippers have every reason to celebrate when they drafted the consensus college player of the year Blake Griffin. It wasn’t such a hard decision with the 6-foot-10 251 lbs. NBA ready body Griffin who is a sure double-double guy night in and night out plus he belongs in one of the weakest draft in the NBA. There are glimpse of greatness in Brandon Jennings and Tyreke Evans but they were high risk low reward players compared to a sure shot Griffin. But that wasn’t exactly how things went on this season with Evans an early candidate for Rookie of the year followed closely by Jennings while Griffin will have to play his rookie year next year with his broken left kneecap needing a season-ending injury. The series of bad luck for the Clippers are slowly piling up with three first round draft picks namely Michael Olowokandi (1998) , Danny Manning (1988) and Blake Griffin all have undergone injuries in their rookie year. The Clips still have a decent chance in going to the playoffs with Baron Davies, Chris Kaman, Marcus Camby and second year guard Eric Gordon leading the Clippers to a respective 18-22 record falling only four places behind the 8th spot in the Western conference. Having a Blake Griffin in the team would certainly help them but without him doesn’t hurt them much either because they have been playing without him since from the start. The Clippers are a team loaded with great talents but in the last decade they always fail to reach to their full potential imagine having Lamar Odom, Darius Miles, Tyson Chandler and Quentin Richardson all in one team. They have been a shadow to their LA counterpart the defending champions Lakers and from way things are going it looks like it will stay that way for the next decade. It’s hard to say that the Clippers are jinx especially having such a great athlete in Griffin. It’s just a product of coincidence and unwanted injury.
Blake Griffin will have to rest his knee and get ready for the next season. I have a feeling that the Clippers will be unleashing a hungry lion.
