Gone in 14 seconds…

EliteXC has been protecting their prize ward for quite sometime handpicking unheralded or washed up fighters to preserve his invincibility. Kimbo Slice has been the most hype up fighter in the history of MMA. His street fighting was a massive hit in youtube and the build up continues pitting him against Bo Cantrell the 43 year old Tank Abbott who has more losses than wins (9-14) and the unheralded James Thompson who gave Kimbo a hard time before succumbing to strikes in the third round.
Last Saturday Kimbo was supposed to fight the legendary Ken Shamrock who has never taste a win in his four fights but pulled out due to a cut above his eye hours before the official fight begins.
The hype and the anticipation for Kimbo were too much for him to overcome. EliteXC put much weight on Kimbo’s shoulder that if Kimbo fails their fate is in limbo… Seth Petruzelli took the fight one hour before the event began. Elite was confident that Kimbo could handle an unheralded fighter with less than a day to prepare. But Seth made an upset knocking the lights out on Kimbo with just 14 seconds in round one.
The once porn bouncer who made a living in street fighting was exposed and the hype died down. Sooner or later someone is gonna exposed Kimbo and it came from the hands of Seth who is 30lbs lighter who gave up 4 inches in reach and 2 inches in height.
Kimbo was defeated by an average MMA fighter and no it wasn’t done in a submission it wasn’t done in a choke or an arm bar it was done on a cracking right to the jaw the style Kimbo is known for as a slugger.
Now Kimbo and EliteXC have to face an unknown future. If Kimbo wants the limelight back he has to go through Seth again… The hype, the bright lights, the money, the respect is now slowly fading… and it only took 14 seconds to do that.
