“It’s hard for me to congratulate somebody after you just lose to them,” he said. “I’m a winner. It’s not being a poor sport or anything like that. If somebody beats you up, you’re not going to congratulate them. That doesn’t make sense to me. I’m a competitor. That’s what I do. It doesn’t make sense for me to go over and shake somebody’s hand.” an email by Lebron James to Dwight Howard after a heart breaking game 6 loss to Orlando Magic.
It was the Cavaliers year this season winning 66 games with only 16 losses and was the NBA’s overall no.1 seeded team. Coach of the year went to Mike Brown and MVP was undoubtedly Lebron James they were unbeatable at home and swept two postseason opponents. This was supposed to be a Lebron-Kobe duel in the finals but the Orlando Magic has its own way of rearranging fate as they crush the hopes of a showdown. It was evident that the Cavaliers are in need of a trusty sidekick to Lebron James. Mo Williams, Zydrunas Ilgauskas and Delonte West came close but they had a problem with the word consistency. Lebron could score consecutive 40 points but in the end basketball is still a team game. His frustration got into him and instead of congratulating his fellow Olympian teammate Dwight Howard he went directly to the locker room grab his headphones and skip the media interviews. There are things left better unsaid but Lebron never utter a word an eerie silence which unleashes a strong message… Danny Ferry would have to dig deep in bringing a supplement player for Lebron or it will be his last wearing Cleveland’s uniform.
A simple congratulations or a gesture of accepting defeat could build a strong class of character for Lebron. His team was down 3 games to 1 and was blown out in game 6 they are playing in the line of fire and subconsciously he knows his team doesn’t have an answer to Orlando’s inside and outside arsenals defeat is eminent anytime soon. But Lebron won’t budge it’s not him… and even on his email to Dwight there were no congratulations or good lucks. It’s Lebron James like it or not.
