Los Angeles Lakers: Down 0-3 The Lakers Can Still Write History

Kobe Bryant walks around the American Airlines Center with still an optimistic attitude—everything is going to be fine. After being down 0-3 against the Dallas Mavericks, the LA Lakers needed more than a positive outlook; they needed a miracle to pull this up. “We are going to win this series” That’s what Kobe has been preaching all night long. “I might be sick in the head or crazy or thrown off or something like that, but I still think we are going to win this series,” Bryant said. “I might be nuts. Win on Sunday. Go back home and see if they can win in L.A.”…

The Lakers has still one game left to prove all the doubters wrong, one single life line in defending their championship. Nobody really bought Kobe’s promise but nobody laughed at it either. Anything is still possible. However, history normally dictates the outcome. In the 65 years of the NBA’s existence, no team came back winning a series after being down 0-3 in the playoffs. Kobe believes the Lakers can be that team. The San Antonio Spurs tried their best to catch up but faltered all the way down against the Memphis Grizzlies in the first round. However, the Spurs were basically overpowered by a young and physically imposing team. You can’t say much about the Lakers. They have the size, athleticism and an MVP to match up against the Mavericks. They were just literally digging their own hole when they blew up a 16 point lead in Game 1 and wasted a seven point lead with five minutes left in Game 3.

Kobe wanted this post season to be extra special. He wanted to give Phil Jackson a fitting finale, another championship ring, a farewell party with a grand parade around Los Angeles. But it seems it has been becoming dim towards the end of the tunnel. There is still hoped and they need to act fast before it’s too late. After Ron Artest’s wrestling act in clothes lining J.J Barea and Pau Gasol’s recurring soft label. This is the time they put everything behind and play with urgency and determination.

“We are going to win this series”…. As Kobe Bryant walks with an upbeat attitude. He never doubted about their chances. He never doubted about his talent, his coach and his teammates. The Lakers will write history…

Nobody really believes they could do it. However, nobody laughs at it either.
