In 1123 Vine in the streets of Hollywood California, you can hear the familiar popping sound that is vibrating around the area. The sound can be trace in the Wild Card gym, the infamous boxing gym in Hollywood and the home of the eight division weight titlist, Manny Pacquiao.
It has been almost a year since Manny trained in the Wild Card gym, this time the workouts are gruelling and the punches a bit harder. No time to slack off, no time for complacency… every punches and every ounce of effort counts. Pop, pop as the sound gets louder in every punch Manny hits on Freddie Roach’s mitts.
Manny will be facing his former tormentor Timothy Bradley for the second time around this Saturday. And he wants this time to settle all the doubts and differences. The first meeting, ended in a sour and controversial decision win, with Manny winning almost all rounds, but the judges saw a different fight and handed Bradley the victory.
This time, Manny vows to end the fight early and not put the fate of the fight to the judges’ hands. He wants a knockout, something he hasn’t done since 2009 when he scored a TKO against Miguel Cotto in the 12th round.
For most of Manny’s fight, he tried to keep mummed about scoring a knockout, but this time it’s different. Two losses with one of that loss coming from a stunning knockout against Juan Manuel Marquez, it seemed that he is out to get redemption.
Manny wants to bring his killer instinct back. It has been four long years since he ended the fight with a knockout. The Bradley rematch serves as his inspiration.
Pop, pop, pop… As Manny Pacquiao’s punches pulsated around 1123 Vine Street.
Timothy Bradley should be ready, because come this Saturday, no judge this time could save him.
