NBA Game 1 diary (Boston 1-0)

Paul Pierce had a bad fall and the crowd was all eyes on their beloved captain ball. Later in the third quarter Paul Pierce went back to the ball game and with all the emotions and relief he started his own run with a four point play against Radmanovic.
Pierce, Allen and Garnet delivered the blows with 65 combined points. Pierce dramatic comeback proved to be the pivotal point of the game. It rejuvenates his teammates and Garnet went to work. KG made a lot of good decisions in the game he was a walking mismatch to either Gasol or Odom. He was just unstoppable with his post ups and mid range jumpers.
Defense
Boston made Kobe work for every shot he made. Although the pick and roll works wonders on the Lakers offense but with Boston’s tight defense the Lakers are just a step behind. Boston prides itself with defense and gets its energy from it. Garnet’s cross court save was the energizer bunny after Cassell converted it on mid range.
Intangibles
Sam Cassell and PJ Brown made baskets, hassled plays and drew offensive fouls for Boston. They completed the supporting casts for Boston’s trio. Sam went back into his old self while he was still playing in Houston, Posting Derek Fisher with fading shots Sam attack Fisher’s defense and Coach Phil Jackson forced Kobe to guard Cassell. PJ Brown played Gasol very well and grabbing important rebounds. Sam and PJ are the intangibles who gave Boston a 1-0 advantage going into game 2.

This would be a long series for both teams and at this point it’s still too early to tell who will be the victor. The Lakers-Boston rivalry lives up to its expectations and with game 2 coming up. Questions will be answered… would the Lakers bounce back? Or will Boston gets a commanding 2-0 lead… the drama continues….

A Reason to celebrate
