“Sugar” Shane Mosley has already secured his legacy when he fought Oscar De Lahoya twice winning by decision and scored a TKO against a young and upcoming star Antonio Margarito recently. He was the pound per pound king years before and although his throne was long gone for now but still he is consistently in the top pound per pound list. Sugar has the speed and power to fight the big guns in a star studded division but his eyes are fixed on one opponent the reigning pound per pound king Manny Pacquiao. Shane is always a class and graceful fighter but desperate measures comes in desperate times especially when Miguel Cotto earned his spot against Pacquiao after a thrilling and bloody split decision win against sturdy Joshua Clottey. Shane earlier announced a press conference telling everybody that his fight with Pacquiao is already a done deal with just some minor agreements needed to be done. There wasn’t any negotiations made and still Pacquiao’s scheduled Nov.14 date is still without a dancing partner. Mosley called his backup the Golden Boy Promotions for support and GBP went on lambasting Toprank’s matchup sighting that Bob Arum wants it all. Mosley is willing to take the 40 percent share and is willing to fight Manny at a catchweight of 144lbs. It won’t be difficult for Manny on dealing with Mosley but there is a bigger problem Manny would have to think of. Mosley has the speed, power and the much bigger fighter matchup wise. Roach would have to make a bigger fight plan against Mosley which i think is the most dangerous compared to Floyd Mayweather Jr.
Miguel Cotto deserves a fight against Manny since it was not a gimme fight. He went up fighting the best in the division winning against Mosley and losing in a controversial fight against Antonio Margarito and he went toe to toe against Joshua Clottey translation… Cotto earned his rightful place against Pacquiao. Manny who’s still the smaller fighter between the two has an ample chance against Cotto with his speed and power. Mosley will have to rethink about his options why pick on the smaller guy… pick on your own size… and why not Mayweather? When all said and done boxing is still business i don’t blame Mosley for trying but at least he didn’t stoop down a notch lower… He can still make his plea but i hope he do it in class.
