The clock is ticking as Bob Arum switch the time-sand up and down as the grains slowly drop until it becomes full right after Friday midnight.
Its Floyd’s turn to make this fight happen and there aren’t enough good reasons to think about it this time. Manny Pacquiao already agreed the controversial blood testing right up to the fight night and when a proposed 50-50 purse split was presented there was no objection from the Mayweather camp.
All systems go, now all Floyd got to do is sign the contract it’s as simple as that.
But we don’t live in a perfect world and one mega fight which only asks both fighters to sign the dotted line can be that complicated.
I don’t think Floyd is afraid of Manny in fact any fighter who goes to the ring risking their lives for the sake of entertainment and money is in no way be called a coward but he is the typical businessman who only invest if they know they got something bigger in return. He is just afraid of losing and Pacquiao is capable of giving him that. He’s just obsessed in losing his precious “o” that even with an aged fighter like Shane Mosley he demanded a rematch clause.
From what I see, Floyd has only two choices it’s either he signs the contract or retire undefeated with a questionable legacy. At age 33 skipping a mega fight which could earn him a guaranteed $50 million in favor of fighting a year older is not what we call a perfect game plan. Those reflexes and those speed could certainly lost a step or two once we get to be older and if you’re in the fight club 34 is already older with a bit bigger mileage.
Bob Arum has to give a deadline to make this a more memorable event in November with all the marketing and build up it needs a larger time frame to produce such a humongous fight in history but maybe he also has hints that Floyd will not take this fight and if Manny would fight Cotto or Margarito they need all the time to hype things up.
As soon as the last grain of sand drops…the time was up for Floyd. Still there was no contract on hand, there was no explanation just an empty space with another frustrated boxing fans waiting in vain… I dread for that moment to come but it’s not the end of everything. Maybe theirs are just made in fantasy fights and boxing games… The hopes just ends there it just came to a point that we just want a fight be it Pacquiao taking on Mayweather or any other fight. Three days… and if there is such thing as “The Decision” by Lebron James this time it’s the conclusion… as the world again awaits Floyd’s decision. Suddenly the hype has just died down. It’s his time to step up with Manny bowing down to his demands…
The world awaits but half of the world sleeps and a pinch of us don’t care anymore. It’s been months now since their initial negotiations and now it boils down to one final decision.
If not Floyd there’s always some Cottos and Margaritos out there waiting. It’s about time this fight be made and if not November then it will never will. Life goes on and much bigger fights will eventually happen.
